Honjo International Scholarship Foundation Party

As a recipient of the Honjo International Scholarship, I had the honor of attending the welcome party on March 28, 2024 at the Keio Plaza Hotel. It was a delightful evening where I had the opportunity to meet with four other UH Manoa recipients. Two of them will be studying at the same Keio University, while the remaining two are attending Sophia University for the Spring 2024 semester.

The evening was filled with delicious food, including sushi from the renowned Kyubey restaurant, known for its high-quality sushi. It was a buffet-style dinner that allowed for mingling and conversation among the scholarship recipients and professionals. .

I am immensely grateful to the Foundation for their generous financial support, which has been instrumental in making my study abroad experience in Japan a reality. Their assistance has truly made a difference in my academic journey and has allowed me to explore new opportunities and experiences in Japan.

For students considering a study abroad program, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of applying for scholarships. Not only can they alleviate financial burdens, but they can also open doors to new opportunities and enriching experiences that may have seemed out of reach.

In the center of the group photo from the event is the current president of Ito En Ltd, Mr. Daisuke Honjo. His father, Mr. Masanori Honjo, and uncle, Mr. Hachiro Honjo (current chairman), founded Ito En in 1966. It was Mr. Masanori Honjo who established the Honjo International Scholarship Party on December 25, 1996, utilizing all of his personal assets to support exchange students like myself.
